Chapter Thirteen

They spent much of the movie talking over the audio, Guin making comments about the surprisingly high quality of the score and laughing along with Ryo at the slapstick exaggerated violence. Guin was quickly satiated by the dumplings after only a few, leaving Ryoma with more than enough so he continued to graze until they were gone, his stomach and heart full.

He admitted to having a crush on the lead actor as a teenager, their strength and style had lit a fire in him he hadn’t understood until much later. Guin had begun to imitate them in voice and manner, as he touched them. The soft curve of their spinal contacts pressed against him as they watched and he was sure he could feel their contentment radiate into him. Their robe fell open, with a little assistance, sliding to the floor. Making love came easily, holding their wrists above their head as they liked, remembering the right places to touch and kiss, a gentle bite on their nipple made them hiss with pleasure, both getting so worked up they both missed the ending.

Another time perhaps.

Ryoma was awoken by mid-morning light of the twin suns cutting through the blinds directly into his eyeline, pulling him from the pleasant quiet of dream. On instinct, he reached out to touch Guin but found the bed empty, the sensors in his hand detected the slight warmth where they'd been, his mind playing through the memory of the previous night.

Their familiar cologne clung to the sheets, a tug in his chest at their absence. A small but vocal part of him felt like one day he’d wake up and they’d be gone. He sat up, shaking the thought clear of his mind, pulled on the previous night’s jeans, creased but wearable, noticing Guin's clothing was scattered on the floor. They were still here at least. Grabbing a fresh shirt from the closet, he rolled his shoulders a few times to see how it felt, newly adjusted. The movement was buttery smooth, like it had just been installed.

One hell of a mechanic.

He wished he’d known them in his boxing days, he might have won more often.

In the living room, Guin was perched on the window sill taking in the suns-light, their knees drawn up to their chest. The apartment faced the sea, it was the main reason he’d chosen it, even if it was far too expensive for the size. One of his shirts rested on their shoulders in a half hearted attempt to look decent but it still hung loose on their frame, their slender silhouette visible through the pale fabric.

"You’re up," they said, eyes not leaving the horizon. "I thought I'd let you sleep, you looked so peaceful."

"Thanks, did you sleep at all?" He asked, crossing the room to join them. "Do you actually need to? I’ve wondered if you were just humouring me, pretending to sleep."

"Sure, a few hours. Brains need rest after all." Still, they looked exhausted, glancing at him just long enough for him to see they were troubled by something.
